About the city
Santa Marta is a city on the Caribbean Sea in the department of Magdalena in northern Colombia. It is a busy port and was the first Spanish settlement in Colombia. It is the gateway for excursions to the Tayrona National Park and multi-day guided tours to the archaeological site of the Lost City (Teyuna) in the Sierra Nevada mountains of Santa Marta.
