Visit a Ranchería and immerse yourself in the impressive world of the Wayuu
The drums sound. A man, covered only with a loincloth or guayuco, is chased to the frenetic rhythm of the music by women who are dressed in beautiful, brightly colored blankets.
This is the yonna, the traditional dance of the Wayuu (the largest indigenous community in Colombia and Venezuela), which you can learn if you go to the city of Riohacha, capital of the department of La Guajira.
And it is that in a good part of the Colombian territory there are still indigenous communities that, like the Wayuu, have managed to preserve their culture despite the passage of time and modernization.
